I am not sure why apt-get would fail. If you are using apt-get to install a new package, it is often a good idea to try apt-get -f install as a last resort. In this case, it will run all commands in the order given, and try to figure out what's not going on. Last edited by Lekensteyn; 03-02-2010 at 05:52 PM. Reason: Added an example It was a PPA. if you did not install it from PPA, it could be a bug in code. I removed the PPA and performed apt-get upgrade. Now I can install another packages but when I run apt-get -f install it gives following error : E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages. E: Unable to correct dependencies then I performed apt-get upgrade which did not give any error and when I run apt-get -f install it takes only one minute to run. Please advice what is the problem with apt-get -f install? Thanks in advance. This tool was initially inspired by Vlad Brankov's mplayer-yuv and Andy Anis's mplayer-mp3 tools. MPlayer-yuv Contact: License: GPL License-file: COPYING.gz Author: Vlad Brankov mplayer-mp3 Contact: Author: Andy Anis Description: This program allows for synchronized audio/video ripping. It allows you to rewarp DVD's to a resolution that your video output supports, and then have the sound and video play back in synchronization. This works by having the audio and video output go through two instances of mplayer. The first is used to rip the audio and video tracks from the DVD, and the second is used to display the video on screen. Please keep in mind that mplayer-mp3 is currently still experimental.
