Lost Chronicles of Zerzura(2014) is a 3D fully voiced point-and-click adventure. The story is captivating and let me give you a glimpse here: The protagonist's mother come from a mysterious city where people never get old, but for some reason she had to escape to some other city, pregnant with protagonist. After she gave birth to the protagonist she was burned alive as a witch by the Spanish Inquisitor. The protagonist grew up to be an inventor and this is the journey of he and his family and friends searching for the lost city. Nice scenery and good voice acting. I completed it without using any online guide for even once! Took me around 10 hours. A really great game. Better than a lot of other 3D pnc adventure games nowadays. A shame this is the last game this company made before going out of business (from the looks of it).. 'Zerzura' is a traditional point and click adventure. On seeing its logo you might suspect it to be a hidden object game. But is a point and click adventure with a reasonable plot and length of playtime. The game is based around two young men around 20 years old in Spain during the time of the Inquisition. One of them fancies himself as a competitior to Leonardo Da Vinci. Lots of the puzzles are centered around him inventing things. His brother is early on sought out by the Inquisition and the rest of the game is centered around the younger brother finding him and then discovering why he was so persecuted. The game mechanics are very much old adventure game style. You can talk with people to advance the plot, use objects together to create new devices and use things in your inventory with objects in the environment to help your character.Best points:The graphics are really quite pretty.Useful highlighting of hot spots. The soundtrack is nothing exceptional but decent. The voice acting for the English version is really very good. The plot is engaging until just before the end. The ending itself is a bit dull.Worst points:The main character thinks he's some kind of genius of invention but the puzzle solutions involve some bad, bad ideas. People that understand Physics and Engineering need to prepare themselves for covering their eyes and forgiving the writers. The main character needs an injection of personality. The main character develops a disturbing case of Stockholm syndrome which makes a small chunk of the game just feel weird. In summary: The game's main flaws are the about main character but he isn't too annoying to stop the game being worth buying. It's an above mediocre point and click with good production but occasionally mad puzzle design.. Sadly, this game crashes for me after about 15 minutes of play. I would love to play it, if the bugs were fixed.. An enjoyable point-and-click game with multiple locations and some puzzles. If you are lacking adventure point and click games to play like I did, Zerzura is the place to go. Just keep in mind that the puzzles are not hard (apart from one which I, personally, think was a bit far-fetched) and the story is mediocre. Nonetheless, again - if you lack any point and click games wich have a proven track record, try this one. Has a bit of an Atlantis spirit with some cool cheeky humour moments.. Like a lot of point & click games Zerzura suffers from frustratingly unintuitive gameplay that has you clicking everything onto everything in the hope of progression. As such it ends up being a stop often to consult the walkthrough simulator. That would be O.K. if the story was good. But, there's not a lot to recommend that either. You have two orphaned brothers. One of whom, the main character, is an inventor. The other is trying to find their people's lost city. What's so important about this lost city? You know, magic, the falback choice for lazy writers everywhere. There's the usual cartoonish villain who wants to get to the city also. And, there's a corsair woman who exists to be the main character's love interest, I guess, and to seek revenge for her father's death. I write "I guess" about the love interest thing because the game lets us know by giving you the option to have the main character give her some flowers, and, later, they receive a magical amulet, that neither of them asked for, that binds them together. So yeah, that's the game.. I really enjoyed playing this game from the begining to the end of history. I found zero technical problems. Game play was nice. Graphic verry nice for my eyes. Few puzzles was hard for me to resolve... Nice piece of game in whole dump of games :D. What an amazing game! Very enjoyable, great story, good mechanics.. 4 times crashed at 40 minutes. Lost Chronicles of Zerzura starts off as just the type of adventure I like, with a bunch of physical inventory puzzles in the general vein of Return to Mysterious Island. Combine the things, and make new and better things to solve some fairly logical puzzle in the game world. I particularly enjoyed the invention sequences, and the action bits requiring puzzle-solving to complete a voyage or escape were also to my liking. However, the latter 1/3 of the game or so is devoted to a 'find the scattered pieces of X' puzzle that drags on far too long. This is one of my most loathed game tropes and has been an ugly splotch on a number of otherwise great titles over the years. The focus also shifts from the physical to the mystical. Maybe I should have expected it, what with the rationaist brother and the esoteric brother, but it was still a disappointment, because the realm of magic is a realm of infinite possiblities and I'm much more interested in our world of limited possibilities, with maybe just a pinch of magic for spice. As others have mentioned, it's visually a pleasant enough experience. Our hero is an agreeable character, and the personality contrast between the two brothers is believable even without the magic stuff. Bit characters are thinly drawn, which includes most of the rest of the cast. On the other hand, they had some funny dialog in places to liven things up. The villains were good -- it's the Spanish Inquisition, how much more villanous can you get? The varied settings were generally fun and the mini-game that I can remember was entertaining. The mechanics of gameplay are functional and have some nice features like double-clicking on scene exits for a quick departure and clicking past dialog. I only had a couple of freezes/crashes in 13 hours of play.I'm probably not the best judge of puzzle difficulty. When I was finding the puzzles engaging (first 60% of the game or so) I didn't need to lean much on a walkthrough. If I'd learned earlier about inventory right-clicking for additional actions/options I barely would have needed it at all in the early stages. Once I got bored later in the game I used a walkthrough more, until I eventually dropped the game entirely before it ended, frustrated with all the mystical object-fetching. There is some bad adventure game logic at times, of the type where you discover you will need just ONE MORE THING (sometimes vaguely described) and must trek across the entire map to find which location suddenly has a supply of that ONE MORE THING. Other puzzles are nicely crafted, use items readily at hand, and make at least some sense. Believability is strained even in the non-magical sequences, but I think that is forgivable in the name of a good tale.I think most adventure fans will find this satisfactory. I found the latter stages disappointing, but had quite a good time with it in the early going. If I had to pick between a neutral rating and a thumbs up, I'd have a hard time of it, but it's easy to give Lost Chronicles a thumbs up with only the two choices available.
